Does God Exist? Essay

Proof Of The Exsistence of God Either God exists or He doesn't. There is no middle ground. Any attempt to remain neutral in relation to God's existence is automatically synonymous with unbelief. The question for God's existence is really important. Does God exist? Theology, cosmological, teleological and ontological arguments are all have ways to prove the existence of God. With all of these great arguments how can one deny that there is a God. There is a God and with these reasons I will prove that.
There are two types of theology discussed in chapter nine of Kessler “Voices of
Wisdom,” revealed and natural theology. Revealed theology comes from such sources as the Bible and according to St. Thomas Aquinas…show more content…

Cosmological arguments were started at the time the questions of the universe were first asked.      The existence of motion to the existence of a first mover as the cause of movement, was argued by Aristotle. This first mover he called God. The reason for this was that nothing caused God to move yet God was responsible for the motion of all other things. Thisargument is based on presumptions in other cosmological arguments. The first was that something could not cause itself, second something cannot come from nothing, last there could not possibly be an infinite amount of cause and effects.
St. Thomas’ view was of God is an infinite, all-good, all-knowing, all powerful, perfect being who created the universe and now has sole command over it. This view is known as theism. St. Thomas states that a first cause must be in order to have cause and effect now. For if we take away the first cause there would be no effect following there for the universe would have never been created which is impossible because we can prove the universe does exist. He also argues that there are things in the universe that have the possibility of existing and not existing, we have seen things that have existed and than destroyed, thus proving that there is the ability of being and not being. There was a time when

In this essay I discuss why there is proof that there is a supernatural being known as God, who has created everything we know and experience.

The mere claim, there could be a "Proof for the Existence of God," seems to invite ridicule. But not always are those right who laugh first and think later. Remember how all-knowing doctors/scientists laughed at every new discovery. They laughed when they heard for the first time about diseases that were supposedly caused by animals so tiny that you could not see them. They continued to laugh at virtually every discovery that challenged their previous believes in an attempt to preserve the status of "have-studied-for-years-and-must-therefore-know-everything-already."
They always laughed first but, when things became clear, they must have felt very, very...

On the other hand, many well-known scientists now admit that certain discoveries tend to indicate that God rather does exist than not. The problem, I suggest, lies in certain preconceptions. If we picture God as a person, then the question comes up: where is God?
However, if we picture God as something that could be everywhere, surrounding us like air or awareness, then, understanding if and what God is - all of a sudden - becomes a possibility. I am sure you can agree: if there is a God, then God has to exist and has to be aware of His Existence (can you even picture an unconscious God). Also, He must exist on his own, which means: God must be self-energetic. That is the safest thing we can say without too much speculation.
And, in fact, that is precisely what God is: God is self-energetic Awareness. But I don't want to presuppose that God's existence is a fact before the proof is established.

Simply by looking at what constitutes our world, we can say that all matter consists of energy, proving the existence of energy. How, then, do we know this energy exists? The simple answer is, we are aware of it. We then only have to find out how this awareness came about. Did it come from dead matter or lifeless energy as the materialists have us believe? Or, did Awareness exist first or did Awareness co-exist with energy, out of which the Awareness then formed matter? Is awareness a by-product of electro-chemical activities in the brain? Is Awareness the out-put or the Generator? We are more certain considering our thoughts.

If God Does Not Exist, Then Everything Is Permitted Essays - Many of us have wondered about the role of a Deity, in defining our moral code, and this has been a subject of discourse among scholars and philosophers since centuries. Many define morality as the innate ability of the human conscience to draw input for decisions which they believe is present there by itself. While some say that the (belief on the) presence of God gives them strength and inspiration to overcome their inability to follow moral standards (which are already defined) especially when they conflict with their self-interests....   [tags: God's existence, divine judgement, moral code]

The Existence Of God Essay - Truth, what is truth. This question itself has a thousand answers, no person can ever be sure of what truth is rather, truth can be justified, it can checked for reliability with strong evidences and logic. If the evidence proves to be accurate then it can be established that a certain answer is the truth. However, have we ever tried to think about what intrigues us to seek the truth. To think about a question and set foot firmly on the path of knowledge. Definitely it has. That was the very cause itself which is why this world has witnessed some of the greatest philosophers like Aristotle, Plato and Socrates etc....   [tags: Does God Exist?]

Proving Does God Exist Essay - ... That’s how the human race began. The bible will inform you on the whole situation. Most people say the bible is just a book of a story. The bible is so much more than that. I can see why they would argue about that, it is a good argument. But God does not have to show himself, he was here a long time ago. He sacrificed his life for us. He is always with us, whether you see it or not. The key to belief is to have faith. The churches we have, the commandments, the Bible, and heaven are all true....   [tags: faith, creator, bible]1226 words

Essay about Does God Exist? - Does God Exist. St. Thomas Aquinas has written several important works. Some of them are: The Disputed Questions on the Power of God, Exposition of Dionysius on the Divine Names and Disputed Questions on Spiritual Creatures. Most of Aquinas's works have been written to try to prove the existence of God. Aquinas has been a firm believer that everything had to have a creator and the only possible solution would be something called God. It is with this idea that Aquinas's Third Way was written. In his De aeternitate mundi contra murmurantes, Aquinas insists that human reason cannot prove the impossibility of an eternally created universe....   [tags: essays research papers fc]

Does God Exist? Essay - Does God Exist. Since the beginning of time, man has been struggling to answer the question, how did we get here. What or who was responsible for the creation of life and the cosmos. It seemed natural to conclude that there must have been a higher power that created the reality known by man. However, how does one prove the existence of such a God. This has been the major preoccupation of theologians and philosophers which began several hundred years before Jesus Christ, and has continued to be the subject of heated debate ever since....   [tags: Papers]1189 words

Essay on Does God Exist? - God not only exists in the understanding, but in reality as well. God, according to Anselm, is a being "than which nothing greater can be conceived" (Anselm 29). According to this concept God could not simply exist in an understanding because that would leave the possibility of a greater being than God -- He who exists in reality as well as understanding. Anselm concluded that the "only being whose nonexistence (in reality) is inconceivable, is the being than which nothing greater can be conceived, and only God fits this description" (Anselm 28)....   [tags: Papers]468 words

Does God Exist? Essay - Does God Exist. In this essay I am going to create a balanced argument from over the years which many people have used to base their beliefs on whether or not God exists. Furthermore the topic of God is such an important issue in the past few years due to the Iraq war and recent terrorist attacks. It is of importance because in the Iraq war we have a predominantly White-Christian country occupying a predominantly Middle eastern-Muslim country, each with opposing religious beliefs. Which if left to escalate any further could spark a world wide uprising of opposing fundamentalist groups....   [tags: Religion Spirituality]1805 words

Essay about Does God Exist? - In my life on this planet I have come to question many things that many take on as blind faith. We all know that someday we will 'physically' die, Yet, we continuously deny the forces working inside ourselves which want to search out the true outcome of what may or may not come after death. It's far easier for humanity to accept that they will go on to a safe haven and be forgiven for all, rather than to question the existence of a super omnipotent being. Fortunately, there are some of us who tend to question the why's and how's that come before us....   [tags: essays research papers]1596 words

Thinking is definitely an out-put. But, who is thinking and who is aware? Whether it is the whole Universe or our own thoughts, the question is: who or
what is the first cause? It is only logical to conclude that awareness cannot be the product of dead matter or life-less energy. How could that even be imagined?

Yes, I claim that God can be proven indirectly through very convincing circumstantial evidence and directly through personal experience. The body of circumstantial evidence, that has been collected over the years, is tremendous and by itself a proof simply through the overwhelming accumulation of proofs. One could call it Prima Facie Evidence, which is evidence of such a high degree of probability that it is recognized as evidence until the opposite can be proven. I feel that the evidence presented in "Awareness - The Center of Being" delivers such convincing evidence.

The quandary of the existence of God has troubled mankind for thousands of years. The existence of God was once never denied, as His presence, His existence was evident in miracles and the people's faith. But time and the advancement of modern science have called God and His very nature into question. The Perfect Being has become the source of much doubt and controversy. What was once certain and surely unquestionable has become the most questioned. The faithful, believing people have become unsure.
